  • Matt started at American University in April 2009, and in the Center for Diversity & Inclusion is the Coordinator of LGBTQ Programming. In this position, he oversees general LGBTQ programming initiatives, the Rainbow Speakers Bureau program, LGBTQ Peer Advising programs, the LGBTQA Awards Ceremony, and the LGBT Studies Symposium. He also works with the other center staff on history/heritage month programming, center-wide programming intiatives, and diversity/social justice workshops. Additionally, he meets with students and other campus partners to discuss LGBTQ issues and concerns and advocate on behalf of this population. Outside of the Center, he serves as a member of the OCL Staff Development Advisory Committee, the Social Justice LLC team, and teaches in the Women Gender and Sexuality Studies Program. Before coming to AU, he had experience working as an academic advisor, internship coordinator, facilitator of prejudice reduction/diversity/LGBT workshops, and taught in the Integrative Studies Program (New Century College) at George Mason University. Outside of AU, Matt is a member of ACPA, DCCPA, NASPA, and the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, where he currently serves as the Treasurer.
