Nisha Gupta

Intern Clinician Counseling Center

Nisha Gupta is a pre-doctoral intern clinician at the American University (AU) Counseling Center, and a Ph.D. candidate in her final year of Duquesne University’s APA-accredited clinical psychology Ph.D. program. Her previous clinical training settings include university counseling centers in New York City and Pittsburgh, PA, and an LGBTQ+ community mental health clinic in Pittsburgh. Her approach to clinical work integrates psychodynamic therapy, relational-cultural therapy, emotion-focused therapy and mindfulness. Her areas of clinical interest include: relationship and family-of-origin concerns, shame and self-esteem, social anxiety, trauma and recovery (interpersonal, intergenerational, and sociopolitical traumas), LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy and intersectional queer identities, minority stress and effects of systemic oppression, mindfulness, self-compassion, and the creative arts.
