Office of University Architect
Virginia Richardson, AIA, is a staff architect with American University for over 20 years and she has been in the construction industry for almost 30 years. Throughout her career here, she has been the project manager/architect on such major projects as the Brandywine Comptroller Offices; MGC TDR Renovations; 4801 Massachusetts Ave. Washington College of Law; Kogod Expansion; Asbury AU Central and Financial Aid Office Renovations; 4200 Wisconsin Ave Network Server Room Renovation; and various residence hall upgrades. A number of smaller projects that range from designing AU podiums to renovating the Washington College of Law Residence round out her portfolio. Virginia has extensive experience in planning and programming space; estimating project costs; developing project schedules; and designing spaces as well as managing consultants and contractors. Her ability to collaborate with clients, consultants and the administration alike are among her strongest assets. Virginia is currently working on the Washington College of Law at Tenley Campus.
