Jennifer Ashley Vanderburgh is pursuing a Doctoral degree in International Relations in the School of International Service, having completed the MA program in International Peace and Conflict Resolution in 2009. Her research centers on African conflict and refugees, specifically on the processes of integration and encampment. Her past experience with peace and development includes work with the International Rescue Committee in Boston and Catholic Charities in Arlington, administering refugee resettlement programs; Georgetown Law School's Center for Applied Legal Studies, translating for African asylum-seekers preparing for court hearings; TiE-DC, a network for entrepreneurs, especially in the South Asian-American community; and Empowered Women International, assisting immigrant and refugee women to turn their cultural artistic flair into an entrepreneurial business. She is also actively involved in outreach to DC's homeless through Three Strands Community Church (www.3strandschurch.org). Originally from Atlanta, Jennifer received her BA in French and Government from Georgetown University.
