Cheju Island Chejudo Island is Korea's largest island and a living folk village located of the southwestern shore of the peninsula. Because of its romantic tropical image, it is a paradise for honeymooners.
The island is also said to be well known for three things, wind, rocks, and women. The first is self explanatory. The reason why rocks from Cheju Island are well known is beacuse the island itself is a volcanic rock formation.
The island is also well known for its diving women. They dive without SCUBA tanks and collect a variety of mollusks. You can find them on the southern shore of the island and buy fresh seafood from them.
In the center of the island is the primary volcano, Halla Mountain. It is long since defunct and is a popular hiking area.

It is within an hour's flight from Seoul, Pusan or Taegu, and there are direct flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sendai. You can also reach Chejudo by ferry from Pusan, Wando or Morkp'o.
