Music throughout the decades has provided enjoyment for people of various cultures around the world. It has provided a means by which people can express themselves artistically without being separated by linguistic or national boundaries. Music transcends time by linking people from past generations and cultures to our current generation, influencing the sounds of the twentieth century and beyond.
Today's music is colorful and diverse, reflecting the artistic ingenuity of the musicians as well as the cultures they represent. In every country, culture pervades the music scene and all other aspects of daily life. Therefore, it is interesting to see and experience different cultures through their musical traditions. This site explores the cultural background of six regions, spanning from the United States, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia and traces the evolution of music in each region to see the influences of traditional music on today's popular music. From the unique stylized country and western music originating in the United States to the rhythmic impulses of the rich woodland savannas in Africa, this site offers the sights and sounds of today's popular music. Each page identifies some of today's most popular artists along with actual soundbytes from their more well known works. Just click on a region below and view scenes from various countries while listening to some of today's newest artists.
