Here are the Videos from Season #1 (1998-99) of the Global Classroom. You can order them by sending an email to address below. The videos can be purchased as part of the Global Classroom according to differing levels of participation.
(1) Purchase of a "Class" that is delivered to a home institution as part of the season's Global Classroom "Core" class. It is preferred to work with a local instructor.
(2) Enrollment for a class at American University and pay AU rates accoridng to AU policy.
(3) Payment of fees for specialized services, including videos, email broadcasts and Virtal confernce hosting.

The Video is about 55 minutes long and has four segment. Part I is a 10-15 mintue lecture on issues and cases of trade, environment and culture by Dr. James Lee. Part II is a current and topical news program on trade produced and prepared by broadcast journalism students 0f 5-10 minutes. Part III is a discussion between Dr. Lee and a guest (or guests) on current trade issues, followed by a series of student-generated questions and responses. Part IV Presents a focus "Case of the Week" and provides background information on the show.

CG: (1) The US lost a case brought by Venezuela and Brazil over gasoline import standards (VENEZ Case) (2) Japan lost a case to the US, EC and Canada on unfair import taxes on alcoholic beverages. (3) The US was found to be unfairly restricting underwear imports from Costa Rica. (4) Brazil's countervailing duty on Philippine coconut exports was upheld by a panel decision. (5) The US lost a case to India over a safeguard measure that affected imports of certain textiles. (6) Canada lost a case to the US over its treatment of US periodicals in terms of its content and distribution. This case forced Canada to re-think its policy of cultural protection. CG: See TED Web site for the SPORTSIL Case (7) The sale and distribution scheme for bananas in the European Communities was found inconsistent with the WTO in complaints filed by the US, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. (8) India lost a case to the US over the absence of patent protection for pharmaceutical and agricultural chemical products in violation of the agreement on intellectual property that is part of the WTO. (9) The EC lost a case to the US and Canada over import standards related to the use of hormones in beef.
