Attend a brown bag lunch discussion on Monday, Oct. 15, with Professor Vera Thorstensen, head of the Centre on Global Trade at Getulio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Organized by the AU Washington College of Law and the ABCI Institute - Brazilian International Trade Scholars, Inc., the discussion is important listening for students interested in law, economics, and international relations.
Thorstensen will discuss "The challenge of exchange rate misalignments on trade rules: WTO x IMF," and opening remarks will be given by Professor Aluisio Lima-Campos, chairman of ABCI. Thorstensen is professor at the Getulio Vargas Foundation School of Economics in Sao Paulo and Head of the Centre on Global Trade. She served as the Economic Advisor to the Brazilian Mission to the WTO from 1995 to 2010. She has taught at numerous institutions and was chair of the Committee of Rules of Origin for seven years.
