|SUBJECT:||Academic Affairs Leadership Updates from the Office of the Provost|
On July 19th, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies Phyllis Peres will assume the duties of Interim Senior Vice Provost and Dean of Academic Affairs (DAA) at American University. She will succeed Interim Senior Vice Provost and Dean Kay Mussell who will embark on her much anticipated and well earned sabbatical in Ireland. We will miss Kay, are most appreciative of her extraordinary service to the university, and wish her the very best with her research.
In addition to her duties as Interim Senior Vice Provost and DAA, Phyllis Peres has decided to continue with her responsibilities as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies. Her plans are to return to the undergraduate position in two years. Over the course of this coming academic year, we will explore alternative ways to support Vice Provost and Dean Peres. Her success in covering these multiple duties is important to all.
Over the past year Phyllis Peres has earned extensive support from the community for her thoughtful judgment and effective administration. Please join me in wishing her continued success with the expansion of her responsibilities.
