Believing that AU can benefit from rotating leadership at the undergraduate level, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies Lyn Stallings has decided to return to full-time teaching in the Mathematics/Statistics Department after five years of dedicated service. Stallings will continue to serve as vice provost through summer 2016.
Vice Provost Stallings’ contributions have been significant and will continue to impact the quality of AU’s undergraduate experience for years to come. During her tenure, Vice Provost Stallings oversaw several notable initiatives that improved undergraduate programs and services. She led the development of new Undergraduate Academic Regulations, the revision of the Honors program, and the creation of the Community Based Research Scholars Program. The university’s attention to and understanding of student retention and attrition was better focused through her administration of the MAP-Works program and retention-related collaborations with Campus Life and the academic units. The admissions process for transfer students was made more efficient through the development of a robust articulation database that dramatically decreased the time in which prospective transfer students learned how their courses will transfer to AU. Further making the admissions process more seamless for transfer students, she established articulation agreements with select community colleges in the region and across the nation.
This fall, we will begin an internal search for a new Vice Provost of Undergraduate Studies. Only full-time AU faculty members are eligible to apply. With deep commitment to AU’s success, I have assembled a search committee to recruit and identify a highly qualified candidate pool; consult with faculty, staff, and students; and recommend finalists to the provost.
I would like to thank the colleagues listed below for their willingness to serve on the committee:
Lacey Wootton, Department of Literature, CAS, Chair
Ajay Adhikari, Associate Dean and Professor, KSB
Rachel Borchardt, Associate Librarian, University Library
Angie Chuang, Associate Professor, SOC

Christine Chin, Professor, SIS
William LeoGrande, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Professor, SPA
Doug McKenna, University Registrar

The search committee will execute the full search process and will soon post the position announcement for internal faculty consideration. In the meantime, please join me in thanking Vice Provost Stallings for her service.
