The Fall Faculty Retreat is a day-and-a-half event at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, VA, scheduled for Friday, October 16, and the morning of Saturday, October 17.

Faculty are invited to participate in all events and to stay overnight as hotel accommodations will be provided. An evening event in which spouses/ partners may attend will be hosted, and childcare will be provided.

Faculty who observe the Sabbath are welcome to attend the Friday daytime meetings.


Accommodations

Each registrant will be accommodated in a standard room (one double bed). Faculty bringing children will be accommodated in suites with a double or king bed and pull-out sofa bed.

Attire

Business casual attire is appropriate for all events.

Child Care

AU has contracted with Nanny Poppinz to provide child care on Friday, October 16, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. If needed and with advance notice, nannies are also available earlier in the day on Friday and on the following Saturday morning.

Childcare will take place in designated rooms within the National Conference Center. Meals and snacks will be provided. If your child will be in child care all day, consider taking him or her to lunch with you or to the afternoon optional activity.

Age appropriate activities are planned for all children. Older children will also be under the care of nannies and will be able to take advantage of the conference center’s Wii Lounge and Red Commons Lounge, which has recreational activities.

Parents should provide the following at child care check-in:

  • Bottles and baby food labeled with the infant’s name
  • A blanket and burp clothes
  • Diapers and wipes
  • A change of clothing (if your child is not yet or is being potty trained)

Meals

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided to all registrants, spouses/ partners, and children. Please let us know of any special dietary needs if you have not indicated them on your registration form.

Transportation

For those who have requested transportation to the retreat, a charter bus will leave the AU Nebraska lot on Friday, October 16th, promptly at 7:45 a.m. The charter bus will leave the conference center at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th.

Please note that there will not be transportation from the conference center to AU on Friday evening.
