Global Media, Global Politics

Are you constantly checking the Web or your favorite news show for the latest updates on world events? This learning community, a pairing of a section of the courses World Politics and Understanding Media, will take a serious look at the intersection of these topics. You’ll gain an understanding of international relations by evaluating patterns of conflict and cooperation in a rapidly changing world, while also learning about the social, economic, and political constraints of American media institutions and their impact on societies around the globe. In a world of 24-hour news networks and Internet-enabled information distribution, the connections between global politics and the global media environment are clear and growing; this learning community will give you an opportunity to explore those connections in greater detail.

“When you go on trips into the city with the people you take classes with, through all the fun and exciting adventures, you become more than just peers—you become best friends. This environment heightened my interest in my class and made it fun and interesting.”

- Danielle Spiker, from Charlotte, NC
