General overview of sources of energy and energy utilization with a focus on the relevant physical concepts, quantification and an emphasis on sustainability. Includes the definition of work, energy, and power; an examination of thermodynamics; different forms of energy and their interconversion; fossil, nuclear and alternative energy sources; and energy efficiency and conservation. Usually offered every spring. Prerequisite: ENVS-580.
