The Russian Empire, 1650-1917 (3) This course examines the history of the Romanov dynasty and the Russian Empire focusing on understanding the structures of the diverse society that made up the empire, the growth and modernization of the empire, and the tensions within the system which led to its collapse. Readings include historical narratives, documents, and novels.
