HIST-657 America between the Wars, 1919-1941 (3)

Course Level: Graduate

America between the Wars, 1919-1941 (3) Following a decade of stability and prosperity, the dislocations caused by the Great Depression disrupted the lives and shook the institutions of the American people, leading to unprecedented political and cultural experimentation. Emphasizing both the contrasts and continuities between the 1920s and 1930s, the course investigates the patterns of political, social, cultural, economic, and intellectual life during the interwar period, with special emphasis on the tensions between radical and conservative tendencies. Crosslist: HIST-457.
