Russia's Twentieth Century: A Cultural History

American University's Initiative for Russian Culture (IRC) takes students to the most significant pre-revolutionary, Soviet, and post-Soviet cultural sites in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and beyond. Mikhail Bulgakov's Master and Margarita is the central text for the course, which students explore through daily seminars and visits to places that appear in the book. Prerequisite: permission of instructor; application required. Meets with HIST-096/496 N02.
