Policing in America: An Introductory Survey (3)

Course Level: Undergraduate

A survey of the history, development, environment, organization, and sociology of American law enforcement, with emphasis on state and local police agencies. Police as an agency of social control; police as a service agency; police as a part of government and of the justice system. Usually offered every fall. Prerequisite: JLS-104.
