Literature and Society in Victorian England FA2 (3)

Course Level: Undergraduate

The connections between literary works and their social context. The course is divided into significant cultural subjects, such as the effect of scientific advancement on society at large, how Victorians perceived themselves at home and at work, and how issues of political reform affected literary works. Readings include historical studies, as well as novels and poems. Usually offered every spring.
