Undergraduate Studies | Vision

The Office of Undergraduate Studies is dedicated to ensuring an unsurpassed education and experience for all American University students.  We serve the needs of students through a broad range of academic programs, initiatives, and centers that begin with first year living-learning communities and continue through graduation, competitive post-graduate scholarships, and opportunities for alumni.

The Office of Undergraduate Studies works with students across campus and includes AU’s General Education Program, our four-year University Honors Program, first year living-learning programs in University College, the Frederick Douglass Distinguished Scholars Program, the Career Center and its Office of Merit Awards, and AU Abroad/Abroad at AU.  We coordinate campus-wide opportunities for undergraduate research, work closely with the academic advising community, and partner with the division of Campus Life in initiatives that include living-learning communities, retention of undergraduate students, and the wide range of undergraduate experiences that promote life-long learning and engagement.
