American University recently joined the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation family of universities developing Professional Science Master's degrees, which are alternatives to traditional graduate education.

With the support of the Sloan Foundation and the Council of Graduate Schools, we have developed Professional Science Master's programs in

Now Accepting Applications
Our two-year interdisciplinary program provides science students with alternatives to research degrees and will equip each student with the skills industry and government demand. Students enrolled in the program will:

  • Master science courses in one of the above listed subjects
  • Complete an internship at a local company or government agency
  • Contend with "real life" problems and projects in a capstone team environment
  • Attend professional skills development workshops and seminars
