Environmental Assessment: MS in Applied Science

Program & Courses - Admission Reqs - Graduation Reqs - Internships - Faculty

State of the Industry

Washington, DC, is home to the US federal government—the Congress which writes the environmental laws and the government agencies which execute them. In between stand the environmental consulting firms, many of which interpret the law on the ground as companies seek advice on how to fulfill their environmental obligations. Too, there are two local state governments and several local county departments of environmental protection which invite PSM students. Finally, there are the international organizations whose policies and practices profoundly impact the environment. A rich storehouse of personal experience and extensive knowledge await the PSM student seeking to further his/her environmental science education accessed through an internship or capstone project.

Program Description

All students pursuing the Professional Science Master's Degree will gain core competencies in statistics and research methodology, as well as applied computing topics such as simulation and modeling and geographic information systems.

Students working in environmental assessment, in addition to taking three core courses on environmental science and risk assessment, will select courses in the fields of Ecology and Conservation Biology.

Classes are delivered in the evenings to accommodate PSM students who work full time.
