Data Dissemination Service -- ADDS -- US Geological Survey
ADDS provides 1 km. ground resolution
AVHRR imagery for Niger. This service includes free downloadable
software for image interpretation, an online imagery index, basic maps
and an increasing amount of agricultural production data. Some 10-day
averages of vegetation information (NDVI) are available from 1982 to the
present. ADDS includes regional and continent-wide imagery compilations.
Earthsat
Earthsat (http://www.earthsat.com/environ/region)
provides infrared satellite imaging, GIS, agricultural and socioeconomic
data on Niger, usually under contract to the United Nations, national governments,
US government agencies, World Bank or corporations.

Famine Early Warning
System - FEWS
This sophisticated U.S. AID-funded project merges
weather imagery, rainfall data, ground observation, local price information
for agricultural products and related data for the entire continent of
Africa. Its objective is to provide early warning of potential food and
water crises. Much weather satellite imagery is available online.
