Andoya Rocket Range, Norwegian Space Center
Andøya Rocket Range (ARR) is the world's northernmost permanent facility for launching sounding rockets and balloons. The combination of a unique geographical position, convenient access, a mild climate, a large impact area and high quality technical facilities makes it possible to offer cost effective, flexible services. Andøya Rocket Range is an operational unit of the Norwegian Space Centre.

Norway's national receiving station for polar orbiting satellite is located at N 69.39, E 18.56.  The area covered by the station includes the entire arctic from West Greenland to the Russian Taymyr peninsula.  The Tromsoe station collects SAR data from ERS-1, ERS-2, JER-1 and Radarsat as well as AVHRR and weather data.  The center provides telemetry support for launches at the Andøya rocket range.  Of special interest: collection and distribution of oil spill information throughout the North Sea, Baltic Sea and adjoining areas in near real time.
