Allie Jackson

Allie

Allie received a Bachelor's in Health, Physical Education & Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master's in Health Promotion & Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting, a Certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and a Certified Health Coach through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Allie has experience working with a wide variety of populations through many different fitness domains including weight loss, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, wellness coaching, and endurance training. Allie has been involved in many team sports throughout her life including basketball, field hockey, and soccer. She currently enjoys running, Crossfit-style workouts, and yoga. After a workout, she likes to refuel with anything she can put peanut butter on. 

Chelsea Horne

Chelsea

Chelsea is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She received both her BS and MS degrees at Binghamton University where she played Division I softball for 4 years. She holds a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has experience in weight training, strength and conditioning, and Crossfit. Chelsea specializes in weight loss, strength and conditioning, and general fitness. Chelsea's not picky when it comes to workout music, as long as it has a good beat!

Robert Carter

Robert

Robert is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), a TRX and cycling instructor, and a Certified Lifeguard. Robert played soccer while earning his Bachelor's from Arizona State University where he majored in History. He has surfed his whole life and is an avid cyclist and boxer. Robert specializes in functional programming, bodybuilding, weight loss, metabolic conditioning, and movement screening assessments. Robert gets pumped up for a workout by listening to Lean On by Major Lazer.

Joel Simon

Joel

Joel is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). He specializes in training for strength, weight loss, and functional fitness. He really enjoys working with individuals that are new to the gym and want a fresh start in fitness. Joel has been active his entire life. In high school he ran track and played on the basketball team. Currently he is focused on lifting weights, MMA, and grappling. Joel's go-to song to get him pumped for a workout is Ocean Planet by Gojira.

Katie Lundberg

Katie

Katie is the Fitness Coordinator for Wellness and Special Events at American University. She received both her Bachelor's in Physical Education, Exercise Science, & Wellness and Master's in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA). She specializes in strength, kettlebell, and enjoys working with those who are new to exercise. Katie grew up playing basketball and volleyball, and ran cross country. She currently enjoys strength training and CrossFit. Katie's favorite post-workout snack is a bowl of oatmeal with banana and peanut butter.

Erin Thomas

Erin

Erin is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and serves as a Wellness Ambassador for the AU Recreational Sports and Fitness department. She specializes in positive body image, holistic wellness, and strength and endurance programming. In high school, she played lacrosse and ran for  the cross-country team. Along with teaching group exercise classes at AU, she runs half-marathons and triathlons. Erin's favorite pump-up song is Too Original by Major Lazer.

TaVona (Tay) Davis

Tay received her Bachelor's in Human Performance with a concentration in Sports Medicine from Howard University in Washington, D.C. After three years of working in higher education student affairs, she became a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Although she does not currently have a specialization, Tay enjoys working with a variety of clients, especially those who enjoy working outside of the traditional gym setting. In high school, she participated on competitive dance teams, and currently loves all things outdoors. Her favorite workout music is anything high energy and upbeat! 

Scott Shoemaker

Scott is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), and a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), and a Certified Functional Movement Specialist (FMS). He attended East Carolina University where he majored in Health and Fitness and also received his Masters in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from California University of Pennsylvania. Scott grew up playing baseball and basketball and currently enjoys strength training and playing tennis in his free time. He specializes in strength and functional training, endurance training, and injury prevention. During his workouts he likes to listen to music with a good beat!

Maddy Giella

Maddy is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She is currently working toward earning her BS/MS in Health Promotion at American University and also works as a fitness leader at Cassell Fitness Center. Maddy played volleyball and soccer in high school and was also captain of her cross country team. She is currently focusing on full-body strength training and enjoys running in the occasional 5K race with friends. She relies on Chance the Rapper to help her power through her workouts and loves to refuel with sweet potatoes and peanut butter post-workout. 

Jake Thomas

Jake is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA). He is a current American University student studying Financial Management from Montclair, New Jersey. Jake was a three-sport varsity athlete in high school and currently trains as a competitive body builder. Jake specializes in body building and fat loss. His favorite post workout meal is a double steak Chipotle burrito and Reese's peanut butter cups.
