Support Club Sports

The Club Sport program consists of over 20 different student organizations focused on competing in their respective sport.  Each club offers students the opportunity to pursue a higher degree of participation with a group of individuals interested in the same level and type of activity.

If you wish to contribute to a specific sport club you can do so online through the AnewAU online giving website.  Choose designation, then scroll down the page to the Athletics portion and choose Club Sports. After choosing Club Sports please make sure you designate which club you would like to donate to. Please visit the Club Directory if you have questions on the name of the club.  If you wish your gift to benefit all students involved in the program, please write Club Sports - General in that section.

Checks should be made payable to American University and in the memo, please include the Club Name.  Checks should be mailed to:

The Club Sport program promotes student participation in a wide variety of athletic activities, contributes to the development of student leadership and provides a bond between individual clubs.  Each club is formed, developed, governed and administered by the student membership of the club working in conjunction with the Club Sport office.  Recreational Sports & Fitness assists in the development and growth of each club, the emphasis of the program is on student leadership and involvement.  The existence of each Club Sport and the program is dependent upon student interest and participation.

Each club receives a small annual allocation from Recreational Sports & Fitness to help offset the expenses of the club.  However, this allocation, at most, funds 50% of the legitimate expenses for the club.  The remainder of the expenses for uniforms, equipment, travel, etc. must be subsidized through membership dues, team fundraisers and generous donations from others.
