Crew - AU Rowing is a highly competitive organization with around 50 active members. Although we are a club team, AU Rowing competes on a varsity level. Rowing is a very demanding sport with extremely dedicated athletes. AU Rowing races at various regattas throughout the entire school year including the Dad Vail Regatta, the largest collegiate regatta in the world.

Cricket - This baseball like sport is fairly easy to learn, fast-paced, and fun. Cricket is a huge international sport and has significant prevalance in Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand, Southern Africa, the Indian subcontinent, and the Caribbean. At AU, we play using hard tennis balls and play through the fall and spring semesters. Our practise consists of non-scored sessions as well as friendly matches. AU Cricket Club welcomes everybody who is willing to play. Whether you are somebody who has not played in a while and need to relearn the game or somebody looking to learn from scratch, come check us out. We plan to compete with various other schools and clubs in the region throughout the year. Our practices are mostly held on weekends. Cycling - The American University Cycling Team is a student run organization focused on competitive road cycling. The team is open to riders of all abilities; members range from complete beginners to top-level national competitors. AU Cycling competes in the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Cycling Conference, which includes all colleges in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. ACCCC races offer ability based categories, so all participants can race at a level they feel comfortable with. The AU team prides itself on developing new riders and teaching how to maximize each member's potential. Competitively, AU Cycling is a force to be reckon with. In it's entire history the team has never been worse than 2nd in the Atlantic Coast standings. AU Cycling has consistently qualified for the Collegiate Cycling National Championships, and has always been among the top 10 teams in the country.

Gymnastics - The gymnastics team is an upcoming star in club sports. It is composed of dedicated men and women who completed their first competitive season in Spring 2005. The team has become well recognized in the NAIGC league and travels around the country to competitions. Gymnasts of all backgrounds and abilities make this club a mix of competitive spirit with a relaxed atmosphere.

Men's Ice Hockey - The Men's Ice Hockey team was founded in 2006 and has started out strong. It is open to all, full time students with all levels of skill and a passion for ice hockey. It is a team dedicated to playing competitive hockey and building a strong relationship with AU and surrounding communities. American University plays in the Mason-Dixon league.

Women's Ice Hockey - American is home to the only women's ice hockey team in the district. Practicing 2-3 times a week the team has continued to reach new heights every year. The team participates in the DVCHC against Delaware , UVA, Penn, Drexel, and local rival Maryland amongst others, wining the championship 2 seasons ago. Nationally the team competes in the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association). Every year the team takes on players with experience ranging from never seeing ice outside a freezer to girls who have been playing for over a decade. All levels of experience are welcome! Between games on NHL ice, a league-wide all-star game, and playoffs, this is a rare opportunity for girls who have always wanted to step on the ice to further their love of the game.

Women's Lacrosse - This is the club’s first year. Everyone is really excited to play, meet friends and have a good time. Everyone is welcomed to join. Practices are 2 times a week. Come out and play!

Women's Rugby - The American University Women's Rugby Club is a great opportunity to get involved on campus, make new friends, stay in shape, and experience the best sport in the world! No experience is necessary- we will teach you everything you need to know about rugby and have fun doing it. We have both a fall and spring season, with practices 3 times a week and games on Saturdays. If you're interested, please come and check us out!

Sailing - The Sailing Club at AU runs our Intercollegiate Sailing Team. As members of the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association we participate in regional events to qualify to national regattas. We gather for our love of sailing, competition and fun. We have events for people on all levels of skill. We train with some of the best teams in the District, so everyone can get better. Come check us out.

Men's Soccer - The American University Men's Club Soccer Team will play its inaugural season in 2008. As the newest club team on campus, we are extremely motivated to excel, both on the pitch and off. We will be participating in nearby tournaments, as well as hosting our own tournaments throughout the year. We welcome any player, regardless of experience, to practice or play with the team. Come out and take part in the world's greatest passion—soccer.

Women's Soccer - AU Women's Club Soccer is a competitive soccer team for American students. We have a lot of fun all year round playing teams from up and down the east coast, while creating a free-spirited environment to play the game and meet new friends. All are welcome to come practice with us and enjoy the game.

Women's Softball - The American University Club Softball team is a competitive, year round, fast pitch team. We are a close group of girls all who love the sport, love to compete and love to have fun! We practice at least twice a week-Wednesday and Friday evenings, with additional days depending on the time of year. Our seasons follow the semesters, with fall and spring seasons. We play anywhere from 3-6 double headers and round-robins a season, all of which occur on either Saturdays or Sundays. Our opponents vary from year to year, but have in the past included Mid-Atlantic teams such as Maryland, GW, Loyola md, MVI, Penn State and TCNJ.

Women's Ultimate Frisbee - The "Dirty Ladies" are proud to be part of the Club Sports teams of AU. We accept players of all ability levels. We have become a team-to-beat at the intercollegiate tournaments in which we play. The D.L.'s have competed in tournaments in New Jersey, Georgia, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, making great memories and connections with each other and other college ultimate players in the region. At this year's Sectional tournament, the team went from placed 11 to the 7th place. Our freshmen stepped up to the challenge by playing excellently in their first ever game situations. The year highlight is a Spring Break tournament in Savannah, Georgia with other ultimate teams on their breaks, including the AU Men's Ultimate Frisbee Team. The D.L.'s have 3 practices a week (approx. 2 hours each) and usually attend 3 tournaments a semester in neighboring states. Women's Volleyball - The AU Women's Volleyball Club, founded in the fall of 2007, is a student-run organization focused on developing volleyball skills and competing in organized games. The team welcomes players of all abilities; members range from beginners to high school varsity and club athletes. Because the club is in its opening year, we are not currently established in a collegiate conference, but we plan to compete in local and national tournaments this season. As a club, we work to maximize individuals' athletic abilities, teach the fundamentals of volleyball, and compete against other collegiate clubs in the area. Whether you played in high school and you are looking to get back into the game, or you are simply interested in learning how to play.
