Across the United States, discoveries in universities serve as the catalyst of the next generation of innovations that touch our lives – education software, business methods, communication tools, databases, environmental protection systems, multimedia products, biomedical technologies, and many more. These discoveries are aided by commercial partnerships – licensing intellectual properties to enable their greatest impact.
Introduction
The Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research in the Office of the Provost supports American University faculty who are making discoveries to secure protection of and commercialization of their intellectual property. The Vice Provost will facilitate interaction between American University faculty and businesses interested in their work, and will undertake efforts to secure patents and licensing for their innovations.
The first step to protect intellectual property is to complete the IPC Disclosure Form and submit it to the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Research. The faculty will be contacted to discuss evaluation of the intellectual property.
