INTERNATIONAL STUDIES MINOR

The minor in International Studies requires 21 credit hours of course work. Of this total, 15 credit hours must be taken in SIS and 12 of these must be at the x300 level or above (SIS-3xx). University regulations require that 12 credits from the minor be independent from any credits used in your major. (Only nine credits may be shared.)

Use this list to plan your courses:

  1. World Politics (SIS-105 -- 3 credits) required
  2. U.S. Foreign Policy (SIS-3xx -- 3 credits)
  3. Comparative and Regional Studies (3 credits)
  4. International Communication, International Development, or International Politics (3 credits)
  5. Three courses in the same Functional Field or Regional Area of Specialization

  • Global Environmental Policies
  • International Business
  • International Communication

Note: Some Functional Fields include many non-SIS courses. Students may have difficulty earning 15 credits in SIS at the x300 (or higher) level. The SIS residence requirement does apply. Students are encouraged to work closely with an SIS advisor to ensure that all requirements for the minor are met.
