Advisors in the AU Office of Merit Awards help current students to identify appropriate opportunities and partner with faculty to assist with the application process. Merit Awards staff also advertise scholarship opportunities campus-wide and organize special events and workshops.

Tuition and Fees

Graduate and non-degree students are charged tuition on a per credit hour basis. For the 2013-14 academic year, tuition is $1,440 per credit. SIS program fees (per semester) are $750 (full-time students) or $500 (part-time students). Full-time enrollment is defined as 9 or more credit hours per semester. About Need-Based Aid

Need-based aid is administered through the University's Central Office of Financial Aid. At the graduate level, it generally takes the form of a federal low-interest loan package with a work-study option. Both part-time and full-time students may apply for need-based assistance. The FAFSA code for American University is 001434.
