Foreign Involvement and Prospects for Change in Burma

As part of Burma Action Week, the ASEAN Studies Center, in conjunction with the Student Campaign for Burma, held a panel discussion centering on the role of the international community in promoting political and economic reforms in Myanmar and the prospects that these efforts will one day find success. The panel, which was held on AU campus, focused heavily on the then upcoming general elections in Myanmar (the first held since 1990) and the Obama Administration’s recent policy shift toward greater engagement with the country’s governing regime.
