Key Issues in the Relations between Malaysia and Indonesia
On March 4, the ASEAN Studies Center teamed up with the Malaysia-America Society and the United States-Indonesia Society to hold a panel discussion centered on the mutually beneficial and contentious political, economic, and social issues that characterize Indonesia-Malaysia relations today. The discussion was moderated by Paul Cleveland, former U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia and former President of the U.S.-Indonesia Society, and brought participation from former government officials and distinguished specialists from throughout the DC area. Panelists included former Ambassador Mr. Alphonse F. La Porta; Visiting Associate Professor at Georgetown University Dr. Pamela Sodhy; professional lecturer of Southeast Asian Studies at Johns Hopkins University Dr. Bronson Percival; and Professor at the National War College of the National Defense University Dr. Marvin Ott.
