ASEAN Studies Center | Program on Myanmar (IAPP-Myanmar)
The ASEAN Studies Center has played a key role in supporting American University’s participation in the Institute for International Education’s International Academic Partnership Program on Myanmar (IAPP-Myanmar), which assists U.S. higher education institutions develop partnerships with institutions in Myanmar. The IAPP-Myanmar initiative was formally launched on November 20, 2012, and a delegation from the participating U.S. higher education institutions traveled to Myanmar in February 2013. The delegation included ASC Director Dr. Pek Koon Heng and Dean Carola Weil of the School of Professional and Extended Studies. Through IAPP-Myanmar the ASC has brought together faculty and research centers across American University with an interest in facilitating educational partnerships with newly democratizing Myanmar.
