Think Transatlantic Campus Weeks-The National Finals (Updated 2/26/13)
9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday, March 4 (2013), School of International Service Beacon Conference Room (SIS 300)
In 2012, the German Information Center (GIC) at the German Embassy in Washington D.C. launched the "Think Transatlantic Campus Weeks". In the fourth campaign of its kind, 30 universities and more than 6.000 students from across the United States engaged in debates on the transatlantic partnership, organized conferences, invited guest speakers, engaged in art competitions or music performances and featured many more colorful events.
With the support of the GIC, each university outlined its own Campus Weeks, focusing on specific characteristics of each faculty and region. The campaign gave students the possibility to review and discuss the future of the transatlantic partnership, e.g. from a political, economic or cultural point of view - How best can we preserve our friendship and how should we enhance our future cooperation?
On the invitation of the GIC, the universities' best students will come together in Washington D.C. on March 4, 2013 at AU's School of International Service for a national final. In essays and debates they will assess the value of the transatlantic friendship, the challenges it faces in today's globalized world and the future characteristics the students foresee for the transatlantic alliance. The students will be judged by an international jury coming from different backgrounds. The best of the best will be awarded a prestigious prize.
