Washington Asia Forum
The Center for Asian Studies sponsors the well-established Washington Asia Forum. Past Speakers include prominent academics and practitioners such as Professor Lucian Pye of MIT, Peter Katzenstein of Cornell, and ambassadors from India and South Korea. Many excellent speakers have also been invited from the greater Washington, D.C. area. These experts present lectures on topics pertinent to current trends on the Asian continent.
Oriental Workshop is the newly-launched academic exchange event with visiting scholars from China. Starting this year (2012), Chinese visiting scholars to the Center for Asian Studies are invited for a talk in workshop, where they share their local knowledge, understanding and opinions on US-China affairs. Past speakers and commentators include scholars from China Foreign Affairs University, Fudan University (Shanghai) and Shanghai Foreign Language School.
Hunsberger Lecture Series
In honor of the Center for Asian Studies founder, Dr. Warren S. Hunsberger, the Center for Asian Studies hosts the Hunsberger Lecture, which brings an eminent scholar in the field of Asian studies to the Washington DC area to speak on an issue of immediate interest. The lecture is followed by a reception that provides students and the public an opportunity to meet the esteemed lecturer and discuss relevant matters of interest.
