Celebrating the launch of American University's new major in African American and African Diaspora Studies, Professors Ibram X. Kendi of American University and James Peterson of Lehigh University explore how the drive to understand race and ethnicity in American society can help achieve social justice.

James Peterson is an associate professor of English and director of Africana Studies at Lehigh University.

Ibram X. Kendi is a professor of history and international relations and director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University.
