June - "The Band's Visit"
The Band's Visit
Thursday, June 20th
Abramson Family Founders Room
This month's film, "The Band's Visit," is sponsored by the Embassy of Israel. The film replays the story of an Egyptian orchestra group in Israel. The musicians have been booked by an Arab cultural center in Petah Tiqva, but through a miscommunication the band takes a bus to Bet Hatikva, a town in the middle of the Negev Desert. There is no transportation out of the city, so the band members dine at a small restaurant where the owner invites them to stay the night at her apartment. That night challenges all of the characters. Watch the trailer here.
The monthly screenings are free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Parking is available in the garage beneath the School of International Service building lcoated at the intersection of Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues, NW.
Visit Chef Geoff's Restaurant after the film and receive one free dessert or glass of wine with any entree. Each guest must bring the certificate distributed during the film to redeem the deal. All details are listed on the certificate.
Chef Geoff's is just a five minute walk from the university.
