SIS Film Series

The second film of the SIS film series, 3rd Thursdays, held on the third Thursday of each month, will take place on May 16th, at 6:00 p.m. The screening will be held in the Wechsler Theater in the Mary Graydon Center. The film will start at 6:30 pm after a brief reception. This new series fosters global understanding through an engaging lineup of documentary films provided by Washington, D.C. embassies.

Chef Geoff's, a local New Mexico Avenue bistro a few doors down from SIS, is offering a complimentary glass of wine or dessert to 3rd Thursday film goers.

This month's film, "David Wants to Fly", is sponsored by the Germany Embassy. The film documents the journey of a young German Filmmaker that decides to try Transcendental Meditation. His idol, director David Lynch, has assured him personally that Transcendental Meditation is a source of creativity and the key to success.

The monthly screenings are free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Parking is available in the garage beneath the SIS building at the intersection of Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues, NW. The Mary Graydon Center is just a short walk from the garage.


The School of International Service is located at the intersection of Nebraska and New Mexico Avenues. Parking is free in the SIS garage after 5 p.m.

Visit Chef Geoff's Restaurant after the film and receive one free dessert or glass of wine with any entree. Each guest must bring the certificate distributed during the film to redeem the deal. All details are listed on the certificate.

Chef Geoff's is just a five minute walk from the university.
