International Peace and Conflict Resolution
After receiving his PhD from SIS in June, Daniel Chong became part of the School's faculty this fall, teaching World Politics and Human Rights and the Media. Dr. Chong received his MA in International Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame where he conducted research on the causes of war, nonviolent social activism, and the U.S. defense budget. His research focuses on economic and social rights, extreme global poverty, the construction and framing of rights, social justice NGOs, and conflict and development. He has served the global community in various capacities, working as the development director for Ecumenical Program on Central America and teaching for Save the Children in Phanat Nikhom Refugee Camp in Thailand. Dr. Chong is currently working on two articles titled, "Overcoming the Challenges to Building Effective Economic and Social Rights" and "Subsistence Rights: Employing the Human Rights Framework to Combat Extreme Poverty."
