Judith Shapiro is the Director of the Global Environmental Politics Programs at SIS. Her courses include Environment and Politics, Advanced Studies and Research in Environmental Policy, Contemplation and Political Change, and Cross-cultural Communication. A China specialist, she is co-author of Son of the Revolution, After the Nightmare, Cold Winds, Warm Winds, and numerous articles on freedom of expression and historical memory. Her latest book, Mao's War Against Nature: Politics and the Environment in Revolutionary China, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2001. Current research is on sustainable development in China.
