Located in SIS 250, SIS Graduate Academic Advising is here to help you make the most of your SIS experience by providing information, answering questions, and making referrals to School and University partners dedicated to your academic and professional success.
Students are assigned to advisors by academic program as outlined below. Students can meet with their advisors in two different ways – during Express Advising or via appointment.
Express Advising takes place during “crunch times,” that is during Add/Drop at the beginning of the semester and Advance Registration in the middle of the semester. Express Advising meetings are scheduled same-day and last no more than 15 minutes in length (many are often shorter). Phone in meetings may be available during Express Advising and can be scheduled in advance by calling the Graduate Advising office.
Appointments take place during the non-registration periods of the semester. Appointments allow for more substantial advising conversations than Express Advising. They are 30 minutes in length and are scheduled at least one day in advance. Appointments are available in-person or via Phone or Skype for your convenience.
Advisors will be holding appointments November 4 through the end of the fall semester. The University will be closed Thursday, Nov 28 - Friday, Nov 29 and Tuesday, Dec 24 - Wednesday, Jan 1. Express Advising for the spring 2014 Add/Drop period will begin Wednesday, January 8.
