Registering for the Institute
If you are an American University student, you may register for any Institute courses through my.american.edu as you would register for any summer courses.
If you are not an American University student, you can register for the courses using the five simple steps below:
- Download and Complete the Application
- Print form and mail to: Attn: Kia Hall, Human Rights Institute, School for International Service, American University, 4400 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016
- Wait for your Welcome Letter
- Set up your my.american.edu account using the Instructions in the Welcome Letter
- Pay for courses through your my.american.edu account.
Cost Information
The cost for the Institute is $918 per undergraduate credit or $1111 per graduate credit. The non-credit option is $918 per credit hour of the course. Payment for courses must be submitted two weeks before the Institute begins. American University does not accept credit card payments. Once a participant is registered, he or she can submit electronic payment with an e-check or wire transfer. Applicants preferring to mail payment, must make sure that personal checks are received by the April 28, 2008 deadline.
Registration Dates
Registration and courses have begun. If you are interested in taking one of the courses that has not begun, you should e-mail Kia Hall at kh2547a@american.edu to find out whether there is available space.
