We'd like to thank all the students who attended the talk given by Prof. Albro last Monday and the talk given by Warigia Bowman today. These were the first in a series of talks being given over the next two weeks by candidates for two IC faculty positions. It is extremely important that IC students try to attend these events as it's our opportunity to give feedback about the candidates, their lecture styles, and research interests. Tuesday, Nov. 6, SIS and the School of Communication will present a conversation with painter Fernando Botero and the launch of the new joint-degree program in International Media. 2-3 p.m. Conversation with Fernando Botero moderated by SIS Dean Louis W. GSC Networking ReceptionThe SIS Graduate Student Council is holding a networking reception Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 7-9 p.m. in MGC Room 4. Congratulations to IC Professor Gary Weaver, who will be honored Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the SIS Annual Fall Dinner, which will also celebrate the groundbreaking for the new SIS building and commemorate the 50th anniversary of SIS. You have to register and pay for the dinner here, but the groundbreaking at 2 p.m. and the panel discussion that will follow at 4 p.m. are free. Click here for more info. Other NotesThe GSC Social Committee is still looking for students to help plan social events. Go to their meeting 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6 on the first floor of MGC at the tables to the left of the entrance. GSC Senator Kate Bartosik is still holding Lounge Hours at Davenport on Tuesdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Stop by and keep her company. Also, Greg Fitzpatrick from the ICSF is in the Davenport every Thursday from about 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. If you have a profile and haven't found us yet, be sure to join the ICSF Facebook group and keep updated on events and other interesting info. ICSF Events5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26 join the ICSF for an informal discussion about internships. We'll have some IC students prepared to talk about their internship experiences and we'll talk about strategies to find the right internship for you. Our Meet the Faculty gatherings are still on the schedule either for later this semester or early next semester. Look for announcements.
