International Communication Program students are highly productive with their academic and professional research projects which build in-depth expertise and future leadership capacity for long-term professional development. Students are encouraged to conduct “field research” in addition to the review and analysis of published sources. Field research helps students acquire knowledge ‘on the ground’ in different countries, regions and communities worldwide, and makes it possible to measure on the ground direct observation and data collection against prevailing expert opinion. Such hands-on methods of developing expertise on a particular topic, issue or problem in international communication allows IC students to prepare for more advanced leadership and study, and for higher levels of professional participation.
