International Development Program Annual Spring Public Lecture
Every spring, the International Development Program holds a public lecture and invites leaders and innovators in the development field to speak on the latest topics and trends in the field.
Past speakers have included Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland; Nouzha Skalli, Minister of Social Development of the Kingdom of Morocco; Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Managing Director of the World Bank; Maria Otero, United States Undersecretary of State for Democracy and Global Affairs and former CEO of Accion International and William Easterly, Professor of Economics at New York University.
The 2013 speaker was Ambassador Luis Gallegos who is the Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations Office at Geneva. He was unanimously elected by his peers to serve as Vice President and Rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2013. He is the Chairman of the Global UN Partnership for Inclusive Information and Communications Technologies, and the President of the International Rehabilitation Foundation. In April 2012, he was named to the Special Olympics' International Board of Directors.
