About the Institute

From Theory to Practice

The Intercultural Management Institute provides customized training for effective communication, negotiation and leadership across cultures. We consult with organizations across sectors and train personnel to recognize and manage cultural differences, using them as positive leverage in the global marketplace. We provide academic courses, workshops, symposia and conferences covering a wide-range of topics dealing with intercultural relations.

Formerly the Business Council for Intercultural Understanding, the Intercultural Management Institute (IMI) is one of the oldest, professional intercultural and cross-cultural training and education providers in the world. We are part of the School of International Service of American University, also one of the oldest and largest schools of international affairs founded by former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1957.
