The National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) named Élida Sarmiento, a 2013 Zauderer Scholarship recipient and recent MPA graduate, as a fellow in its upcoming Executive Leadership Institute (ELI), a diverse group of sixteen Latina professionals working across the nation in the public and private sectors.

"We are very excited to welcome this year's ELP Fellows,” said Ann Marquez, president of the National Hispana Leadership Institute. “The class is diverse, representing the corporate, academic, government and non-profit sectors. We are proud to work with a group of highly successful women in supporting their leadership goals."

The fellows will begin the Executive Leadership Program in San Juan Bautista, Calif. With the guidance of Marisa Rivera, president of Mpowerment Works, the fellows spend a week in introspective learning.

“NHLI is proud to bring Marisa Rivera on board for the first week of ELP. Her experience with NHLI women will be a great asset to carrying out a successful week of leadership training for the 2014 fellows,” said Cecelia Espenoza, chair of the board of directors.

In partnership with Harvard's Executive Education Program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Center for Creative Leadership, global trailblazers in organizational and management leadership, fellows will spend a week at each institution. Participants will graduate from the four-week training – taken over the course of nine months – while at NHLI's policy training week in Washington, D.C.

Participants are selected based on their community service record, their professional and personal accomplishments and dedication to serving their community.

Founded in 1987, NHLI is the nation’s premiere training institute exclusively dedicated to Latina leadership training.
