Young American Voices on Malaysia and Southeast Asia Roundtable

On November 6, 2009, the ASEAN Studies Center and the Malaysia-America Society came together to hold our first-ever roundtable dedicated to American MA candidates’ perceptions of Malaysia. The event featured four panelists—Carl-Gustav Anderson, Crystal Corman, Erica Seng, and Cassie Stephenson—who had studied and interned in Kuala Lumpor, Malaysia, through the AU’s School of International Service (SIS) Study Abroad Summer Program. The panelists shared their views and observations on a broad range of topics, including politics, governance, human security, civil society, education, gender, economics, race, and religion in the Southeast Asian nation.
