Grad Dual Degree Programs: Sookmyung Women's University
Sookmyung Women's University was founded in 1906 as the first national education institution for women in Korea. Sookmyung's Graduate School of International Service, or GSIS, was established to cultivate specialists in the field of Communication-based and International PR, International Organizations/Non-governmental Organizations, and Human Security with a vision of globalization and world peace in the 21st century. Both female and male applicants from American University are accepted in to this program.

Courses include International Organization and Human Security; Cross Cultural Communication; Global Refugee Problems; Ecology Issues in International Affairs; Transnational Crime; Affairs in Developing Areas
International PR & Cross Cultural Understanding
Courses include International Public Relations; Research Methods for International Studies; Management of Media Campaigns; Information Technology and International Public Relations; Crisis Management
Admission to the Program
American University students will directly enroll at Sookmyung Women's University after their first year in SIS, paying all tuition and fees to the host institution while remaining an active student at AU. The duration of the program is two semesters with 3 additional months possible during the summer for internships. The deadline for Fall admission is June 1. Objectives:
- To cultivate PR and communication specialists in the areas of governmental, provincial governmental and corporate organizations as well as various interest groups.
- To cultivate international relations specialists in the various fields including general security and human security
- To cultivate specialists who can play an active role in international organizations, including the non-governmental organizations
- To provide distinguished education through various in-service training, internship, and lectures by notable specialists.

Qualifications for the Program
Applicants must hold an accredited bachelor's degree with a cumulative grade point average of at least a B+ (3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale) and should have at least 24 credit hours of social science course work relevant to international studies.
