Welcome to the online edition of Swords & Ploughshares, the official Journal of International Affairs of the School of International Service (SIS) at American University in Washington, D.C. SIS is a member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA).

Swords & Ploughshares publishes scholarly research articles by SIS graduate students and recent graduate alumni. We provide a forum for the diverse range of academic and policy interests of the various programs at SIS. Recent issues have included articles on development, globalization, United States foreign policy, and economics, as well as book reviews and interviews conducted by our staff.

Call For Papers

An excellent opportunity to be published.  Please consider submitting papers completed for SIS classes or a SRP edited to meet our submissions guidelines.

Swords and Ploughshares, the official Journal of International Affairs at SIS, is now accepting submissions for its fall 2007 issue.

Authors must be Master's or Ph.D. students from SIS and currently enrolled in a graduate program or have graduated from such a program within the past calendar year.

Articles must be of publishable quality, limited to 7,000 words, and use endnotes adhering to the Chicago Manual of Style. Please include both a 4-5 sentence biography of the author and a half-page abstract of the article as a separate document. All submissions are blind review; please do not have any identifying information on the submission.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS 11pm, October 7, 2007.
