Incoming SOC Freshman Create Talk Show

American University Freshman Day

Friday, April 19, 2013

Professor Sarah Menke-Fish and her TV Studio Production Class put prospective students in the driver's seat when they visit the Media Production Center at American University's School of Communication during Freshman Day for admitted students. Instead of a lecture, information about SOC is presented in a talk show format, involving faculty, current students and staff - even visitors are invited to be part of the action!

According to Menke-Fish, "From the moment students arrive at American University they have the opportunity for hands-on experiences that extend their classroom learning, this is simply one example. We'll have future freshman behind the camera, at the audio board and character generator, assisting the producer, director and technical director. All of the parents and students will be part of the live studio audience...and they will even determine the name of the show!"
